ride to conquerYou may have read about the Ride to Conquer Cancer campaign in the Globe and Mail or viewed advertisements on CTV or Sportsnet. Ride to Conquer Cancer is a two-day cycling fundraiser taking place from June 12-14. Ontario riders will bike 200 km to raise money for cancer research. The route is from Toronto to Niagara Falls and ALL PROCEEDS will deliver funding for cancer research, education, and medical care.

This campaign will generate the all-important funds for research, which will be allocated based on the highest cancer research priorities at The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret.Hospital, one of the top 5 cancer research facilities in the world.

I can attest to the forward-thinking, innovative research The Princess Margaret provides—some of you know this already, but I am part of a research project that analyzes psychotherapeutic interviews between first-year resident doctors and Princess Margaret palliative care patients, ultimately aiming to improve medical care for dying patients (many of whom have cancer.)

katrina hamm 3[1]Cancer affects 3 of 4 Canadians and so the chances are quite likely that cancer has touched your life. That’s why I am happy to endorse a very good friend of mine is participating in this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer, and I encourage you to join me in sponsoring her fundraising journey. Katrina and I met while working at the Banff Springs Hotel. She is a kind, generous, friendly, outgoing young woman with a passion for outdoor activities. Her selfless participation in this Ride deserves your support. She has her own website for donations and it’s a quick, simple, and secure process.

I encourage you help sponsor Katrina’s Ride. It doesn’t have to be much; even a donation as small as $5 can help find a cure. The cost is small and the impact is far-reaching.
